Judy began her tenure with UCC in October, 1994 as a Behind the Wheel Driver Safety Education Instructor. From November of 1994 through 1998 Judy took on the added responsibilities of the part-time Community Education Coordinator for the communities of Winston, Dillard, Camas Valley and Tenmile. In 1998, she became the Traffic Safety Coordinator/Instructor and responsible for planning, scheduling, marketing, monitoring, evaluating, and some instructing of UCC's High School Driver Education program, Certified Flagger Certification courses, CDL Preparation courses, and Adult Driving courses. In addition to her regular duties, Ode managed UCC's Workforce Training Center from August of 2001 to June of 2003.
From July 2004 to June 30, 2005, she coordinated UCC's American Heart Association Community Training Center (CTC). During this period, CTC delivered over 452 First Aid/CPR trainings to over 4,730. Ode has been trained to provide instruction for students needing specialized driving instruction for Low Vision Bioptic Driver Training. Ode has had five individuals complete the Bioptic Training which allows a person to drive using a Bioptic Telescope Lenses. She is very involved in the Oregon Traffic Safety Education Association, OTSEA, serving two terms as President.
In July 2004, she was named as the Driver Education Teacher of Year Award by the OTSEA Board of Directors. As an ODOT Master High School Driver Education Trainer, she is currently training and certifying instructors to instruct High School Driver Safety Education courses throughout State of Oregon. Judy is also on the state curriculum writing team that is revising Traffic Safety Ed curriculum for use in several states. She is the Northwest Regional representative of National Driver's Education Association (ADTSEA).
