OTSEA Leadership undergoes change.

Oregon Traffic Safety Education Association. |
In October, as Bill Warner dropped the gavel to end yet another successful Fall Conference he knew his duties would be changing. Jerry Mayes, 1st Vice President would be stepping up into the lead role going into this next year. With many responsibilities on Jerry's shoulders, an agreement had been reached beforehand that Bill would stay on and "co-lead" the Presidency. Barely weeks later, with unrelenting family issues and a growing responsibility to provide for failing parents, Jerry Mayes stepped down from OTSEA and from the Presidency, leaving Bill, again, at the reigns of the state association.
"I knew that this was a distinct possibility with all that was going with Jerry," states Bill, during one of the board meetings to follow, "and that was one of the reasons I agreed to co-preside with Jerry."
Now, with Bill back at the helm and a strong board, OTSEA is pushing forward on many fronts. Plans are underway to secure grants to increase the effectiveness and availability of the association website, as well as plans to provide professional development workshops in the off season (other than conference months) in outlying areas in the state.
Judy Ode, as the new 1st Vice-President, is a long time OTSEA member and strong support to the board. Susan Lenzi, 2nd Vice-President, is new to the OTSEA board, but not new to Traffic Safety. Susan will play a key role in the next few years as OTSEA is further defined and developed. Sharon Rothacker continues to provide support as the Executive Secretary and Treasurer, acting as registrar for the association's meetings, workshops, and conferences.
"I put a call in to Rich Hanson," stated Warner, "to tell him that he was back on the hook as Past-President, and his first response was 'what are we going to tackle first?'" This is a high powered board and they're going to need to be as they begin the process of identifying and bringing on the new Members-at-Large from the five regions of the state.
If you have any ideas for the board or for this website, feel free to use the "Feedback" link to let s know what you are thinking. Here's looking towards another great year for Traffic Safety Education in Oregon!
